You Will See Me Sooner or Later

I am an American citizen

You call me nigger, Black, Negro, Afro American, African American, jugaboo, darkie, thug, ghetto, and so many more disgracing names

I am invisible because you fear me

Boo!

I have the same rights and liberties as the white man

You think I’m invisible but I see you

I pay taxes, I’m educated, I own a home, I am a voter

But, you try to strip me of my basic human rights

To be respected; to be heard

To Live peaceably

Your day will come and you will reap what you have sown.

No more

I’m fighting back

I have a rightful place in this country

So, YOU go back home!

You will SEE me sooner or later.

Don’t You Dare Judge Black People!

Burnt Orange, Tanning Bed Lover, Cheetos, whatever name you want to call IT, here are your fine people looting. Are you going to shoot them? How do you think America was formed? It was TAKEN by looting, robbing, stealing, murdering, lying, and stripping others of their own birthright and freedom. Then, you label us minority. You called them “boy.” Really??? They still suffer at the hands of bigoted racist men. How dare you? How dare you judge black people!!! White America brought Africans from their land and forced them into slavery. Then, you call them heathens and nigger. Women were raped, men were beaten, and children were separated from their parents and siblings. Anyone that defied the systemics of slavery were murdered. Who are the good people? Those that perpetuate division, violence, and racism. I beg to differ.

Now, I DO NOT believe in destroying others personal or commercial property. But, remember and don’t you EVER forget that it was done to the American Indian. When will we be heard? When will the powers at the helm recognize that we are human beings trying to take care of our families, be productive citizens, and leave a legacy for our children. You are always saying, “make American great again.” Is this the results of your instigating and inciting violence? Really??? You need to be thrown out of office and erased from the history books just like you are trying to eradicate my people! How dare you???!!!

Where do we go From Here?

As I pen this article, I am reminded of the atrocities that have been placed on Black human beings based on the color of our skin. The only difference is melanin. I’m also reminded that I need to use my platform for the good of ALL people. I am angry and it pains me that in the 21st century, racism is still a thorn in the lives of black men and women. We are not judged by our character and accolades. Bigots feel that black skin is a threat to those who do not look like them. Racist police officers, KKK, Skinheads, etc. perpetuate hate and feel they are the superior race. We know that goes back to the conception of this country. The need for one race of people to dominate another. The constitution says, “…all men are created equal’ but blacks, Latinos, and other so-called minorities were not included in the equation. We have the same systems in our bodies as everyone else: 1. Circulatory system 2. Digestive system and Excretory system 3. Endocrine system 4. Muscular system 5. Nervous system 6. Renal system and Urinary system 7. Reproductive system 8. Respiratory system 9. Skeletal system 10. Integumentary system / Exocrine system 11. Immune system and lymphatic system. We bleed red, cry, or rejoice when we are in pain or have been injured, lost a loved one, the birth of a new child, a son or graduating from high school and college, and the death of a loved one. We want our children to live in a world that is free from judgment/ prejudice. As a mother of a respectable 38-year-old son, who has a degree, I fear for his safety. He stands 6’4” tall but he is a gentle giant. Yet the world of hatred and bigotry automatically criminalizes him for being tall.

So, where do we go from here? We vote in the 2020 Presidential Elections along with local, county, and state elections, too! We decide who can run this country from the president to the commissioners. Today, we must take back our basic human rights by speaking up, having dialogue, signing petitions, press conferences, peaceable marches, educating young adults about the importance of voting because yes you do have a voice and it needs to be heard. I vote because my 95 year old father had to pay poll taxes in order to exercise his right to vote.  Do not COVID-19 keep you away from the polls. Put your mask and gloves on and do the right thing. The Isley Brothers, “Harvest for the World” and Marvin Gay’s “What’s Going On” summarizes our plight. They were written in the 20th century and they still apply today.

Yes, I am angry but I’m more determined than ever to make a difference using my platform in the classroom and my business. What say ye?

How Do I Really Feel?

I put off blogging last week because I couldn’t find the words to convey my feelings about the election and the new president. It troubles me that we live in a country that fought so hard for equality; yet, people voted for a man who proves time and time again that he is not representative of ” freedom and justice for ALL.”

I shiver at the thought of what’s going to happen to the poor and disenfranchised. How does he benefit from helping someone when he feels it’s their fault?  He is a liar and an embarrassment to this nation and the world. Individuals that never voted headed to the polls, stood in line, and cast their vote for a man that made empty promises: poor, uneducated white males. Yes, there  are folks that are middle to upper-middle class blacks and whites alike that took it upon themselves to support this man. Most of them helped him to win the most important election in the 21st century because Senator Hillary Clinton supports pro-abortion rights and she is seen as a liar.

I think about women who are forcibly raped and want to terminate a pregnancy. Are you saying that she doesn’t have the right to make a life-changing decision? Why would you want the government  to make that decision for you? People, you have to stay out of God’s business!  We have absolutely no right to tell a woman what to do with her body. I know you think I am pro-abortion; well, I’m not.  Heaven forbid if I were faced with this horrific act and having to make a difficult decision as to whether or not I can live with a constant reminder of what happened to me.

Yes, I am an educated, gainfully employed black woman ( I hate the phrase African American).

Believe

This year, 2017, learn to exercise your faith. I share all the time how my circumstances has allowed me to grow in wisdom and to exercise my unwavering faith. Prayer is the key to any given situation and faith is believing the impossible. I choose to stand on God’s report. Marinade on all of the things He’s done for you. Do any of us deserve His mercy and grace? Absolutely not! I don’t care what the circumstances are God is able to turn it around. He will make your enemies see the good in you and they can’t phantom what happened. He will show a haughty- spirited person how to be kind and loving towards you. You keep walking in faith.
Pray for those who have wronged you and don’t seek revenge. Love them in spite of their unpleasant ways. Treat them with kindness; only a fool will reject love. God hears your prayers and He will do several things: change you, change your view of them, change them, or remove them out of your life. Whatever the outcome may be, God will do what’s best for you.

“A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” You don’t change your beliefs on a whim. Study God’s Word and be sure of His promises and precepts. Don’t waiver in your faith. Everything that is in print/spoken is not true. Use wise judgment. In addition, base your decisions on your experiences with God and how the Word of God has changed your life for better.
I’ve seen myself grow over the past few years. Things that I said I wouldn’t tolerate, I do because God is working on and through me to reach others. Our lives are testimonies for people to see that you can change if you have a willingness to do so.
Be encouraged. Keep the faith. Forgive the unforgivable. Love unconditionally. Seek God in everything.

He’s Just Not That Into to You: What Happened to the Marriage Chord?

angry couple

Marriages fail because of pure selfishness and stubbornness. If a person is not willing to forgive you pray for them with the love of God and a pure heart. It’s easy to see your mate’s faults but it’s hard as hell to accept that you have deficiencies, too.
The courts are flooded with the business of executing divorces. The day you vowed to accept, love, respect, cherish, provide and forsake others was not a game. You made a covenant with God and your spouse. The question is, did you really want to follow God’s instruction concerning marriage? Marriage is not about going through the motions; it needs to be taken seriously.
Love is free and accepting but devotion is loyalty and commitment. Marriage takes two committed people to make a decision to work things out no matter what! Don’t allow your hatred to cause you to destroy your covenant . Take inventory of your life and your own truths.
So many people destroy the gift that God has given them. When your spouse is sick and tired of the petty nonsense, lack of caring and commitment, they have reached a breaking point. There is absolutely no turning back. When it’s over; it is over. It’s not always about being right, holding grudges, or having a “I don’t give a damn” spirit. What you don’t cherish someone is waiting in the wings to scoop up what you have discarded: your spouse. I promise you once you come to your senses, you will realize the pain and lack of love you inflicted on your gift from God. God WILL bring it to your remembrance.
What really matters to you?
My prayer today is that couples who have reached the brink of falling out of love will take heed and recognize that your marriage is worth saving.

What’s Love Got to do With It? The True Meaning of Marriage

  1. Mom and Dad

****Disclaimer: I firmly believe in women having careers. I encourage it.

Marriage is a union between two people that biblically become one. It is a covenant between two people who confess their love in front of God, family, friends and each other.
Marriage will have its ups and downs but only those that are in love and are truly committed will survive. Love doesn’t allow you to intentionally hurt or say mean things to your spouse. That’s not of God. Anger only last for a moment because love prevails. You don’t focus on the negativity but see the beauty in your mate. Love carries you through the good AND bad times.
Your commitment to one another doesn’t allow strife to penetrate the marriage. It takes a strong Godly man, who is a leader, to keep his house in order because of His love for God, his wife, and children. The wife prays and uplifts her husband and has his back. She buffers situations; she runs her household in love. But, none of this can come to pass if the husband does not listen to counsel or seeks God for instruction. His love for God allows him to take pride in being the bread winner and he makes sure that his home is safe and secure.
“A man that finds a wife, finds a good thing AND finds favor in the Lord.”
In the 21st century, there are men who still find joy in taking care of their family and home.

We Must Face the Truth!

Black Poeple Matter

The decision has been made concerning the officer that killed an African American young man in Ferguson along with other fallen black men and women. First, I must say that I am not surprised!!! We live in a country where virtually no one (All RACES, CULTURES OR CREED) has regard for another person’s life. We must stop killing our own and band together. Fighting, drugs, revenge killings, gangs, stealing and hatred must end. Until we take care of OUR own, we cannot expect for others to do so. Now, a mother and father has buried their son. Death is final. Take back our neighborhoods by loving one another and coming together as a united front!!!! Until we, as a people come together, society will continue to treat us as animals.
